Second game of the season we were hoping that we could carry on the winning streak against a good attacking side, a very hot day where we knew were would have to put the graft in.

1st half

Sileby town came at us early on in the game with a good battle, you could tell that we needed to put in the graft to grind out a good result. The defence shown good character to deal with them pressing high but it didn’t take long for us to grab a goal, 10 minutes gone and good link up play from James to Mackenzie lead to him slotting the ball home in the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Desford & Caterpillar found the rhythm and composure they needed, playing good football and creating chances. Michael found some space down the wing and pinged a great ball in back post to find Simon, with great composure he beat the keeper to make it 2-0 in 12 minutes.

Soon after Sileby took kick off again Desford & Caterpillar were straight out the starting blocks, Simon playing a simple pass to Guy, Guy pinging a hopeful ball through and Michael gambling on it. He was one on one with the keeper and beat him in the air to flick the ball over his head. Ran round the keeper onto his flick on and slotted it home. 3-0 to Desford & Caterpillar 15 minutes gone.

Sileby Town come back at us by what appeared to be going 4 up front, this made it very hard for us to compete against. Shape from Desford started to lack and players started to get too composed on the ball as we had the 3-0 advantage.

3-0 Half time

After a good team talk at half time the lads come out knowing what they had to do to keep the pressure on a very attacking side who were definitely not ready to lose this battle 3-0.

It was a good end to end battle throughout the second half with both teams having more than enough chances to put one to bed. Unfortunately neither team converted any of them chances into goals.

It was a great game to watch and was good to see a return from a few players who have either been injured or returned from operations.

MOTM - Michael Onyia (fantastic work rate, grabbed a goal and an assist!)

Well done to all the lads who played, cracking result….. UP THE DEZZY!
