pride in Defeat

Senior Development went to top of the table Saffron knowing a tough game was in prospect.
With the main pitch unusable we had a scenario where we would get changed at Saff and drive to a park pitch a mile away , its not ideal and had a real Sunday morning league feel about it..
saffron started on the front foot and played some great football , there pass and move football ripped us apart and we could not keep up with there movement.
Saff took the lead after 5 minutes and straight away our heads dropped , 3 down after fifteen minutes i really feared the worst.
Aeron Portch made a handful of quality saves as we just tried to hang in there but saying that we also created our own chances , Jimmy Costello playing up front with Maddison Murrell had there moments and to be fair Jimmy could have had a first half hat-trick missing 2 one on ones and a header that should have gone away .
When the half finished we ere 6.0 down , myself and Hilroy were shocked but we had to deliver a talk and told the lads , game over , show pride and go win the second half, also the Saff manager made a comment that they could get 20 goals at this rate so no more to be said !
5 minutes after the re-start Maddy got on the score sheet and we were a different side , pressing the ball , closing down quicker and also putting the ball up front quicker where jimmy and maddy were causing there back 4 trouble at last ..
maddy went on to score 4 goals in the second half the best was his 4 goal a powerful left foot half volley into the bottom corner , maddy has these performance in him and needs to get the consistency going now , Developments performance in that half was really good and myself and Hilroy heaped praise on them for that showing but the first half was a killer and hopefully wont happen again.

final score was 7.5 but to be 6 down and come back like that was pleasing and cheered the management up but we cant have 1st half performance like that again ,respect to the lads for that comeback .
