With again lack of players not helping our cause we put out a young set of lads and just a couple of returning to fitness older heads to help us out. The balance of the team was better than last week and it was us that had the early pressure but we just couldn't get that final ball to drop at a Desford players feet. Barlestone capitalised on our lack of finishing when a mix up at the back left the Barlestone striker free to score. Almost immediately Barlestone won a corner and the cross was put in with a great finish at the back post. Maybe this gave us the kick into gear we needed and within only a few minutes a corner at the opposite allowed our centre half to put a bullet header in the net to get us back into the game. With a few tough words at the half and a slight change we came out with more attacking intent but much as the 1st although we were the better team and Barlestone were just relying on the hump forward we couldn't get the leveller. Barlestones back line stood strong and made some great last ditch tackles but finally with the last gasp of the game we got the goal we deserved from a great bit of individual skill and a great finish. No doubt about that we should have won but unless you put the ball in the net in wont ever happen. Our keeper kept us in the game with a couple of truly world class saves that defied his young age and some tired and aching legs put in some good shifts to help us out. We must stick to moving the ball around more and retaining possession when we can and not give away silly mistakes and give the opposition footholds in the game. But our main issue at the moment is fit players who can do 90 minutes if required without running players into the ground when really we should be subbing them once they have done their bit.
