> RESERVES GET THEIR VITAL POINT.
>
> A point was all that was needed for Desford's reserves to clinch the title on saturday, but they were up against an extremely talented Aylestone side looking to cause an upset.
> In windy conditions, the opening 15 minutes was a scrappy affair with little quality in either teams play, it looked like it was going to be a mistake or a piece of brilliance was needed to separate the two sides.
> Just before the half hour mark Callum Dacey's long range effort forced Aylestone's keeper to a great save which brought the game to life. Quinton Thompson then had several opportunities before half time, taking a wild swipe at one attempt and hitting the bar on the other.
> The second half started much quicker than the first with chances at both ends. A quick counter spearheaded by Cosmos Matwassa led to two crosses across the six yard box without any Desford player on the end of it, leaving manager Neal Hendley and his assistant Rob Portch scratching their heads in frustration.
> A key moment in the half was a penalty appeal from the Aylestone dugout when striker Jordan medumu was fouled by keeper Ash Marsden inside the box but the referee didn't feel it was worth a penalty.
> Then with just under half an hour to go a Kieron Thompson strike broke the deadlock leading to huge celebrations on the Desford bench.
> Desford from then on in tightened up at the back to hold on to the lead, but, with 5 minutes left on the clock a wonder strike from an Aylestone midfielder(8) left Ash Marsden hopeless of a pulling out a save bringing the game back all square.
> As the final whistle blew, the excitement from the Desford players led to great celebrations after a hard worked 1-1 draw earning them the title tipping off a great season.
